I’m looking for a free hosting site where I can upload a layout I got on another site. I’ve been having trouble with this so far and can’t seem to find one that will load the page properly. The layouts I’m using are in a zip folder, and after I unzipped them there is a folder full of the graphics and another one with the index page. The problem is the pictures wont load and show up as red X’s on screen. I’ve tried using photobucket to store the photos online, but that won’t work either…I have no clue how to fix this problem. Does anyone know how to help or know a good site for uploading layouts that actually works??

It sounds like you dont have the right paths to the images in your index file…

I’m thinking about starting a blog, but I’m not ready to pick out a host yet. If I start on the free Blogger or WordPress, how easy is it to port to my domain/host later? Is it as simple as just repointing, or is it better to just copy and paste the content in a new place?

Depends, if you can just copy the underlying database and libs its trivially easy.
ie: if I run WordPress one one host, I can easily move it to another (have done so in fact).

I’ve tried Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. I like Flickr but it’s basic service is lacking. I like Yahoo!’s unlimited storage but it’s interface is weak. Anyone have any other recommendations? And it has to be free!!!

You get what you pay for. Every free site has severe limitations, even if they say it’s “unlimited”.
The biggest problem I have with them is that you can’t control the resolution. If you post a picture and then try to get it back, it’s almost always smaller or with more compression or lower resolution.
That wasn’t acceptable to me. So after trying just about every “free” site out there, I gave up on all of them and paid to have an account at www.smugmug.com. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent. Well worth it.

However there seems to be a ton of file hosting sites out there who will delete your files if no one has downloaded them recently. Could someone recommend a good hosting service that doesn’t put an expiration date on the files after I upload them?
